The 2017 ‘Griffin’ is the second of a series of ten that will feature the “Queen’s Beasts” and features the Griffin of Edward III.

The Royal Mint issued an initial 5,000 coins, though the Queen’s Beast series is officially of unlimited mintage until the end of the year of issue.

The Griffin of Edward III coin, minted by the Royal Mint, showcases the mythical griffin, a legendary creature with the body of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. It represents bravery, guardianship, and vigilance.
